5-Year Research Strategic Plan

The academic programs at Olivarez College are designed to produce outstanding professionals and cutting edge researchers who are able to address the challenging issues of our time. Such academic programs are dedicated to social and technological innovation, and to combining academic excellence with an entrepreneurial spirit by enabling the transfer of research into the commercial domain, thus strengthening the links between the College and the local community, as well as benefiting the wider society.

Goal 1: Enhance research capability among administrators, faculty, staff and students through various programs and resources.

Goal 2: Maximize research productivity through increasing number of research proposals and produced and/or completed outputs.

 

Strategies

  1. Publish research journals across colleges/departments to be refereed by experts in the field.
  2. Encourage and recommend research proposals to teachers, staff and students.
  3. Provide assistance and guidance to researchers in the light of preparation, planning, conducting and completion.
  4. Make research follow-ups from proposal up to completion and presentation.
  5. Publish regular research compass magazine and compendiums.
  6. Strengthen and encourage group research towards more involvement and opportunities.

Goal 3: Disseminate research outputs to respective beneficiaries and resident communities.

Strategies

  1. Conduct research fora and/or colloquia as venue for paper presentations.
  2. Present papers in the national and/or international research conferences.
  3. Present papers in government agencies, non-government and professional organizations and other agencies, in communities and institutions.
  4. Publish researches in the refereed national and international journals.
  5. Disseminate the results and/or findings of studies to respective beneficiaries, (i.e. communities, organizations, divisions, schools, companies and/or agencies).

Goal 4: Revitalize utilization of research outputs as the central core of every research undertaking.

Strategies

  1. Publish and circulate the developed research outputs for classroom, office and/or school use (i.e. manuals, workbooks and other instructional materials)
  2. Pilot test proposed frameworks, paradigms and policies as output of research studies conducted.
  3. Use proposed and developed instructional materials as output of any study towards long-term validation and evaluation.
  4. Display and exhibit research outputs within campus premises towards recognition of authors and/or researchers.

Goal 5: Harness skill and capability of faculty in producing instructional materials for publication.

Strategies

  1. Encourage faculty members to produce instructional materials along their expertise and/or fields of specialization.
  2. Provide commensurate incentives and royalty fees for the said production.
  3. Recommend the materials to faculty members and students for use in class.
  4. Encourage and strengthen group publication output among faculty members.
  5. Provide assistance and guidance to faculty members in the conduct of their instructional materials.
  6. Display and/or exhibit instructional materials developed by teachers.

Goal 6: Provide incentives, rewards, awards as form of recognition, encouragement and motivation among researchers to delve into passion for research and thereby, produce more outputs.

Strategies

  1. Continuously give research awards to qualified and deserving recipients.
  2. Provide commensurate incentives and research grant to qualified and deserving researchers.
  3. Post the list of outstanding researchers together with their outputs on bulletin boards, news prints and OC portal in the web
  4. Put emphasis on research area in the ranking and evaluation tool and in the deliberation/nomination for outstanding teacher.
  5. Tie-up with research organizations both national and international for some financial assistance and funding.

  2. Affiliate to national and international research associations for some assistance and funding.
  3. Transact MOAs and MOUs with industry, institution and association partners as binding contract regarding strong research collaborations.
  4. Partner with government and non-government organizations and the community for joint research projects.
